1. Background & Strategic Rationale

We are living in an Age of Polycrisis marked by climate instability, widening inequality, health emergencies, economic uncertainty, and geopolitical disruption. ASEAN, home to over 200 million young people, stands at a defining moment.

Artificial Intelligence and Data Science are projected to significantly transform regional economies. The central strategic question is whether these technologies will exacerbate inequalities or drive inclusive, sustainable development.

Frontier technologies — including AI, Machine Learning, IoT, geospatial analytics, UAV systems, predictive modeling, and digital public infrastructure — are now critical tools for climate resilience, public health preparedness, food security, disaster risk reduction, financial inclusion, and evidence-based governance.
